Second Grade Hard at Work

These kiddos are completing their Daily 5 tasks. They are working the whole time, got started right away, worked quietly, and had fun! They were reading to themselves, reading to someone, working on word work, working on writing or working with Mrs. Donahoe, Mrs. Frongillo or myself.

A great friend of mine and I wrote an article that will be published in the 2018 MRA Primer.  Below is the title of the article and some information about the authors.  I'll be certain to share the article once published.

Mary Ellen Shields (left) and Amanda Fallon (right) are both Literacy Specialists and Adjunct Professors; Mary Ellen at American International College and Amanda at Fitchburg State University. Mary Ellen has presented at the MRA Annual Reading Conference and is an active board member with the Central Mass Reading Council.  Amanda works with kindergarten through fifth grade students in Berlin, MA. Recently, they presented with Jennifer Serravallo at a workshop for teachers through the Central Mass Reading Council. The focus of the workshop was on how to use reading strategies to support learners across literacy components, and teaching Reading Engagement: Focus, Stamina and Building a Reading Life.
